Building Our Dream House in Chumphon Buri: Phase One Complete

After months of planning and visualizing, we finally broke ground on our new home in Chumphon Buri. Partnering with My Dee Home Construction Company, we set out to create a modern, energy-efficient, and practical home tailored to our lifestyle and future plans.

The Vision

The design is a modern single-story house with clean lines and a low-pitched roof. From the start, we wanted something functional but stylish—perfect for rural Thai living without compromising comfort. The layout includes:

  • 2 Bedrooms
  • 1 Bathroom
  • Open-plan Living, Dining, and Kitchen area
  • Wide front terrace
  • Future add-on: 55 m² covered outdoor kitchen and carport

We chose a neutral grey-white exterior color palette with accent stonework for texture and durability—something that fits well in the landscape and handles the Thai climate.

From Ground Up: The Construction Process

Site Preparation & Foundation
Clearing the land was the first challenge. Chumphon Buri soil can be clay-heavy, so proper grading and drainage were key. My Dee Home handled it quickly and laid a strong foundation with reinforced concrete beams and slab work that gives us confidence for the long haul.

Framing & Structure
Next came the steel-reinforced framing. Within weeks, the walls were up, roof framing was in place, and the house started to take shape. We opted for energy-efficient wall panels and a flat-sloped roof that channels rainwater easily.

Roof & Exterior Finishes
We selected Bluescope ZACS-style roofing with good insulation and longevity. The exterior walls were finished with a mix of smooth render and textured stone-style cladding to reduce heat absorption and give visual depth.

Interior Layout & Floor Finishes
The floor plan maximizes light and airflow. Large windows bring in natural light. High-gloss white tile floors reflect that light and keep the rooms cooler. The open layout connects the kitchen, dining, and living space seamlessly, while the bedrooms are tucked away for privacy.

Bathroom
We installed a single bathroom, fully tiled with slip-resistant flooring and high-pressure fixtures. We wanted space, not clutter.

Doors & Windows
We went with dark-framed, glazed sliding windows and doors. It gives a modern look and helps with heat and noise control.

Electricity & Utilities

Once the structural work was done, My Dee Home brought in certified electricians to wire the house. All outlets, switches, and breaker panels were installed professionally.

What’s Next?

While the house itself is waiting to be powered and structurally complete, we’re just getting started. The next step is to build a 55 square meter outdoor kitchen and carport that will double as a social space and utility area. It will be covered with insulated roof panels and open on the sides for airflow—ideal for rural living.

Final Thoughts

Working with My Dee Home Construction Company has been smooth and professional. They delivered what they promised—on time and on budget. Building a house in rural Thailand can be a minefield of delays, shortcuts, and hidden costs, but with the right team and clear planning, it’s absolutely worth it.

Stay tuned for part two—when the kitchen and carport come to life and the interior gets fully furnished.
