Big Changes Ahead – From City to Farm

The House

After months of planning, building, and dreaming, we’re entering the final phase of our house construction in Chumphon Buri district, Surin. The walls are up, the roof is on, and the finishing touches are starting to appear. Every day brings us closer to walking through that front door, not as visitors, but as homeowners.

It’s a big milestone but it’s not the only life-changing event on our horizon.

Boom’s Big Career Shift

After 8 years working in the hotel industry, Boom has made the bold decision to hang up her hospitality uniform and swap it for farm boots. It’s not an easy choice to leave a stable career in Bangkok, especially one where she’s built great relationships and mastered her craft. But farming fish ponds, hydroponics, and fresh produce is where her heart is now. The city gave her opportunities, but the countryside will give her space, freedom, and a new kind of challenge.

The Move – September 15

If all goes according to plan, around September 15 we’ll be making the big move. The trip from Bangkok to Chumphon Buri will be more than just a change of address it’s the start of a completely different lifestyle. Fewer skyscrapers, more rice fields. Less traffic, more tractor noise. We’ll finally be able to wake up to birdsong instead of car horns.

Looking Back on Bangkok

We’ve had some truly great times in Bangkok. From late-night street food runs to weekend café hopping, from the chaos of Chatuchak Market to the calm of a Chao Phraya River cruise this city has given us memories that will last a lifetime. We’ll miss our favorite noodle shop down the street, the convenience of having everything within a few minutes’ walk, and yes, even the energy of the city traffic (at least a little).

But while Bangkok will always be a chapter in our story, we’re ready to write the next one.

Looking Forward

Life in Chumphon Buri will be slower, simpler, and more connected to the land. We’ll have space to grow our own food, raise fish, and build something from the ground up literally. This move isn’t just about changing where we live; it’s about changing how we live.

The next few weeks will be busy packing boxes, saying goodbyes, and finishing the house but underneath all the chaos is a quiet excitement. A new life is waiting for us, and we’re ready to grab it with both hands.
